¡Bienvenidas Amigas Latinas!

¡Bienvenidas Amigas Latinas!

For the Latina that has a hard time reading Spanish, follow the comments posted in English, too.

This blog was created for the Latina stricken with the yellow fever -not the flavivirus!- but the illness of being addicted to Asian productions such as drama, movies, music, anime or just the Asian culture in general.

The purpose is to gather your impressions, and to connect with other Latinas living the trend. It would also be great to get to know about Latina-Asian couples (it seems they are very rare).

Hope to hear from your experience!

I Want an Asian Boyfriend (3rd part)

Yep!, the same topic, and why not? There's so much more to know about the Asian boyfriend paradigm. But to be fair, whoever got tired of it, can just say so in the comment section below, ok?  Meanwhile, the search for the Asian boyfriend will be expanded to other regions. China got the first turn because of its male/female disproportionate ratio, and the obvious economical reason, too. The next country, by demand, is Korea (bet I got a few smiles here). But before heading East, I'll share the interesting feedback from my Chinese friends of Sinoplaybook.

This turned out to be my favorite forum. Not only do they patiently endure my cultural ignorance, but they allow me to run around picking brains, too. In the site, I created a group named FusionlatinasiaTX, to echo this blog, and also added to the share section my post "I Want an Asian boyfriend (Part 1)". Yet, the topic was still lingering in the air. So posted direct questions in hopes of direct responses, here's what they've commented, so far:

Q: I started a search to find out where, when and how, but it seems Asian men are really hard to contact. I wonder is it really a cultural behavior or can it be true that Asian men do not embrace intercultural relationships?…
"...if I ever have another chance
to approach a Latina."

"I don’t know about when and how, but where matters. Is the person in a place where there are Asian men? Does ”hard to contact” mean ”hard to find”? It’s not necessarily a cultural thing… This person could look for the good old English teaching job and use it as a bridge to explore and date in Asia. Plenty of Chinese boys are available if she chooses to come to China."
  • "I am a Chinese man. Latin women are very beautiful"
  • "Welcome to Asia. There are millions of lonely Asian boys going beyond Asian girls. Look for an easy excuse like you want to come and teach Spanish or English."
Q: Just for fun… let’s suppose you would like to approach a Latina. What are your expectations? Do you think you behave according to any preconceived ideas? I’m just curious to know if you would make a different approach, if any. This will also give my blog readers a chance to join us @ Sinoplaybook to reply to [...]
  • "All I know about Latinas is listening to Shakira and agreeing that hips don’t lie. That’s one expectation right there. As to pre-conceived ideas, I have no clue. I came close to doing my homework and building up courage to ask out one Latina who came to work with us, but she didn’t take sh** from our boss and left too soon. I’ve not yet forgiven the boss for that. I would expect you rather educate on the things to watch out if I ever have another chance to approach a Latina."
Thanks, SPB friends! Interesting comments, whether funny, serious, objective, or straight to the point, they meet the same objective to reach out to Latinas, and show their interest. Let's reciprocate by giving them a few pointers about us. Chicas, let's be honest, we are not so easy to figure out and they could use a little guidance on how to approach us. Join us at any of the forums, together we can get to know each other better while tearing down walls of cultural obliviousness, and get this started!

Now, as promised, let's head it to Korea. Although it is just to mention the efforts I've done so far. Promise more details in next week's post. As I mentioned before, San Antonio, TX has sister cities in other countries. This is a federal program established many years ago to campaign globalization in the US. The sister city in South Korea is the beautiful global city of Gwangju (#1 on my places-to-go list). My goal is to be involved in social networking with the cities. Ideally, FusionLatinAsia can join one, like Sinoplaybook, and start meeting Koreans interested in intercultural topics. And, another step that I am sure will take us deeper into the heart of Korea is to become a worldwide blogger for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. I just sent my application to compete with a lot of other candidates. The blogger that is chosen is required to blog about  Korea topics like K-pop, food or traveling; hopefully my perspective of the Asian influence in Latinas will call the judges attention. As I keep saying, this is the historical assimilation of two powerful continents and it will bring permanent global changes... I am so happy to be part of it!

I will keep looking forward to the Sinoplaybook comments, and bring the discussions here. Soon we will also be welcoming Koreans, too. So, don't be shy, post your comments and introduce yourself our FusionLatinAsia family is growing!

  1. I'm an Asian male, and I just wanted to say that there are lots of asian guys who are open to dating latinas. They just don't know that you are interested in them!

  2. Well, the solution is quite simple, just let them know you're interested. I guess posting this comment is a good start. Let's see what happens...
