Would a Latina girl like an Asian guy like me?

Although we are of different cultural backgrounds and ethnicity, we all share the same acceptance issues or self doubts at some time (if not all the time). Here's a recent chat with a fellow friend member of my group fusionlatinasia in China's Sinoplaybook site. Part of my "initiation ritual" is to inquire about their opinion regarding intercultural topics. In this case, since he's young and single, (and cute, too!) I asked his opinion about Latinas. Here's our dialogue:
                             

SPB Friend  “Well, about me, I am interested in an interracial relationship. I believe that a mixture of backgrounds and culture is like enhancing life itself. But I never tried it with a Latina coz I haven't found one yet.

I would love to have a Latina girlfriend, to have a serious relationship that may lead to marriage. I like Latinas but the question is, would a Latina girl like an Asian guy like me? he,he…well, we’ll never know unless I’ll try. Sandra, do you know any Latinas who would like to have an Asian boyfriend?" 

Me: Your view of interracial relationships is so nice, and you seem to be a caring person. Probably, romantic, are you? What’s not to like about that?

I got into this topic because Latinas are ga-ga for Asians. The name for this trend in America is "yellow fever”, saying that Asian men are the ”new black” (not sure if it refers to the color we wear or the race). Would you believe me that there are training seminars for Asians on how to correspond to white women?
Probably it is only a fantasy, but they are eagerly surfing the internet asking if Asians like Latinas, if they would date, or even marry one… There are some generalizations that worries them, like: if Asians prefer to marry within their race, and (don’t laugh!), if they prefer skinny girls. Not that all Latinas are, well, round, but they do tend to be more curvaceous. 
Bottom line, I believe a Latina would be interested in you, because of who you are. I can post our conversation in my blog and Facebook to find out. It’s a harmless quest, I think we should invite more Latinas to step into this discussion. 

SPB Friend  “I have no idea actually about the trend of saying Asians are the new black. But maybe it’s because Asians love their woman like black men do. They make their woman feel secure, take care of them, and Asians have a sense of commitment.at least that’s what I know about myself. lol…

I’m not an Asian who likes skinny girls. I love a little chubby girls actually. It’s like the saying that guys love a little more meaty and bouncy". 


Me: “Your answers are always so nice and humorous, too! I think you are (were) a student of art, or literature… Let me know if you are ok to post them in my other blog (in English & Spanish), too. I’ve been approaching Latinas from other sites that are aggressive in their search for Asians. It has been recent, so I’m just giving it sometime. In the meantime, the intercultural topic is my favorite… Do you salsa?”


SPB Friend: “Wow Sandra, I think you have good psychology in you. I’m an architect and art is a big part of my life. Sure, you can post my comment. I have nothing to hide  He, he,… I learned ballroom dancing when I was in college but I’m not sure if I still got the moves. But yeah, I love dancing and with just a bit of practice, I’m sure I can do the salsa". 
                 

Now let's summarize: open minded, friendly, courteous, humorous (meaty & bouncy? hilarious!), committed, humble, caring, attentive, professional, likes to dance (even willing to SALSA!!), likes gorditas, and did you notice: he has nothing to hide.WOW!, sounds like the ideal guy ANY mom would want for her daughter.

Even so, after the list of great qualifications, still, would a Latina like an Asian guy like him? Subjectively speaking, and considering all the toxic material walking loose: con-artists, plastic surgery pretty boys, players, sadists... he's a winner! Yet, it entirely depends on individual preferences or standards. And some girls have set them pretty high expecting a guy with a 100%- guarantee-seal stamped on the forehead. FYI: impossible even if made in China. However, to those ladies asking if Asians like Latinas, just so happens they are wondering the exact same thing about you.
